Mindful Monday- Gratitude Edition

“Big connections are created
when big people care about the little things
that matter to little people.”

‘What’s the magic word?’ ‘What do you need to say?’ Chances are we all reminded our child mindlessly to say ‘thank you’ or ‘please’. When we make gratitude routine work, we lose the meaning to true gratification.

At school when our friends show gratitude, we often question them. Why are you thanking your friend? From there, children start to think of why they are thanking their friends. They start thanking their friends with a reason. We hear as simple as ‘Thank you for the truck.’ to ‘Thank you for playing with me.’

Start from home, ask your child at dinner every night what they enjoyed during the day. What they are thankful for. But also, tell them what you are thankful for. What brings you joy. Children should learn and hear from their parents. Children should see and hear the world from your lens. If we focus on the happiness and joy in our lives, we have the power to share the happiness.
