About Us

J’s International School was founded in 2002 in Moto-Azabu by two mothers. The school is run by early childhood educators, mothers and artists from around the world.

Our school is unique in that it takes place inside a house. And likewise it is a second home to all the children and the teachers. We promote a happy, nurturing environment, for children to freely explore their interests. A place of comfort and warmth with large windows in every room that brings in natural light; away from the harsh and sterile nature of the traditional school. We are hidden in a nook close to Step Park and Arisugawa Park. Home to many expats, we welcome families from all around the world to the J’s International family.

Reggio Emilia Inspired School

As a Reggio Emilia inspired school we utilise natural elements in our work. The children are in charge of their learning and we facilitate them by creating a rich learning environment to suit those needs. A variety of loose parts that children have easy access to during play. We believe in the 100 languages of children.

“Imagine believing that children have the ability to express themselves in more than one way.  Now times that by 100!”  Loris Malaguzzi, founder of the Reggio Approach, describes the infinite ways that children can express, explore, and connect their thoughts, feelings and imaginings.

There are many different ways that children can express their learning. These languages (the Hundred Languages of Children) are symbolic and are open to the endless potentials in children.  They believe in the potential of a child's ability to wonder.  It is the belief that there are “multiple ways of seeing and multiple ways of being".

Core Values

Be the Nice Kid

Join us, let’s play together. Just be the Nice Kid. Kindness and an inclusive environment starts from home. It starts from us - adults. We are all part of a community raising future global citizens. We are all different and yet the same. Be kind. Be inclusive. We are all together.

The Power of Yet

It’s important to keep trying just because we can’t do it, yet. You may not succeed today, but tomorrow - is another day to being able to do what you were not able to do today. It's not “I can’t do it” it's “I can’t do it, yet.” and as educators respecting children and their readiness - not rushing their learning.

Our Philosophy

Creating a kinder generation of children to become leaders of tomorrow.

We welcome children from all cultures and pride ourselves on the diverse backgrounds of students and educators alike.  We strive to nurture our children’s curiosity and encourage them to explore, play, and learn. We look forward to being part of your loving journey.
